It's a six-way photo finish at the dogs
A DRAMATIC finish at Gretna’s Halcrow Greyhound Stadium had similar odds against happening as a substantial lottery win.
For the first time in 25 years of racing at the border track, six dogs in a 280 metres race crossed the line together.
Careful scrutiny of the official photograph was necessary before the judges ruled a Glasgow-based dog as the winner of the recent race by a remarkably close 300th of a second.
All six runners were ruled to have finished within a ‘short head’ of each other.
Racing director Craig Norman said: “We couldn’t believe it when they all crossed the line together.
“It was only after the computerised photo-finish technology was used that a winner could be identified by an extremely narrow margin.
“We’ve had a number of three-way photo-finishes down the years but one involving all six greyhounds is almost unheard off. It’s appropriate that this has happened on our 25th anniversary year.”
