Casualties airlifted from fatal A75 crash

Police name dead man

Update

THE A75 trunk road was closed late Friday afternoon following a serious two-vehicle head-on crash as a result of which an elderly man died.
He was named later as 84-year-old Simpson Wood of Ormskirk Road, Pemberton, Wigan.
Emergency services were supported by two air ambulances, which were used to ferry casualties to hospital.
Up to nine people are understood to have been injured in the accident, close to Rigg village.
